The Friends of the Chatham Community Library rely heavily on the trust of our donors to sustain and support our Library. We are transparent about where funds are directed, and feel accountable to our donors. These imperatives create a solid foundation for long-term donor relationships. When financial statements and project outcomes are openly shared, contributors feel secure knowing that their hard-earned dollars are actually supporting the Library and community, not just getting swallowed up by administrative overhead. Accountability ensures that every dollar received is used efficiently to maximize the impact of the Library on its patrons and community. Ethical stewardship of resources demonstrates respect for the sacrifices made by generous supporters. When the Friends “play with our cards face up,” we show we respect our supporters and aren't hiding any financial irregularities. Regular updates show our community that their generosity is making a real-world difference. Ultimately, being accountable inspires deeper engagement and encourages donors to become lifelong advocates for the cause To that end, we will periodically post relevant documents such as our non-profit tax returns (IRS Form 990) and updates from our Board of Directors.
